Information for Prospective Employees
We provide support to people who experience any type of disability, and tailor that service to the needs of the specific individual, and where relevant, to their family or carers. Our workers have to fit in with the needs and interests of the people being served, not the other way around. The SACS (Social & Community Services) Award applies at Access Recreation.
There are six types of paid roles in this organisation:

Lifestyle Support Workers (several part-time & casual positions, hours vary) - direct support

Recreation Workers (two positions, 1 full-time, 1 part-time) - direct support

Administration Officer (two positions, part time)

Services Manager (one position, part time)

Operations Manager (one position, full-time)

Cleaner (one position, casual)

ESSENTIAL PRE-REQUISITES ( non-negotiable requirements for all direct support workers)
- Must have/retain a current Qld "C" class driver's licence
- Must be prepared to use own vehicle for work purposes, and have it comprehensively insured with endorsement for carrying passengers, including colleagues and people with disabilities and their families as part of their work related duties - copy to be provided by incumbent at induction. Such vehicle is to be maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition at all times, with the vehicle being kept clean and free of any item that could impact on the driver's access to vehicular controls, and the safe, comfortable transit of passengers
- Must be prepared to use own mobile phone for work purposes
- Must have a current First Aid certificate
- Must be able to communicate well in English - other languages or forms of communication would be well regarded
- Must have/retain (or be prepared to make application for) a Disability Services Positive Notice Card
- Must have/retain (or be preapred to make application for) a Positive Notice (Blue Card) for Child Related Employment

If accepted, an employment contract (incorporating a 3 month probation period) is signed. All unsuccessful applicants are advised of the outcome of the recruitment process.
All new employees undergo an induction and orientation prior to commencing their usual duties. On-going training is encouraged and provided.
Workers must be willing to work within Access Recreation's Operational Framework; abide by the association's Code of Conduct, Queensland's Disability Services Standards, and the Disability Services Act (Queensland) 2006.
