Disability Sector Quality System Accreditation
30th August, 2008
In June 2004 (which seems like a lifetime ago now) members of Access Recreation attended a workshop where they received information about the introduction of a Quality System for organisations funded by Disability Services Queensland.Over the next 4 years we reviewed our current practices, policies and procedures, and conducted a variety of internal audits. While conducting these audits we continually asked ourselves "what do we say we do?" and "are we doing what we say we do?" and implemented processes that provided evidence of this.
In March 2008 Access Recreation underwent a Quality Management Systems Audit and succeeded in receiving Certification for the Queensland Disability Service Standards.
Karla Gilson, Access Recreation's Service Manager, said "We would like to thank everyone involved in the process. Without your involvement and support, we would not have achieved our accreditation as a Quality Service Provider. The impact that is has had on Access Recreation has been tremendous".
"I am confident that this process will ensure the support provided to individuals will continue to focus on the person being supported, and their individual needs, and more importantly assist them to achieve their life goals as independently as possible".
